On Sunday, July 25, 2010, I biked the 23-mile Scenic Ocean and Marsh Tour through Rye, Portsmouth, and New Castle, NH (see Bicycling New Hampshire’s Seacoast by Linda Chestney). I went with my friend Katrina, my mom, and our friend Susan. It was blistering hot so the 23 miles felt like 50. In this entry, I’m going to tell you why you shouldn’t jump in the ocean wearing Abercrombie & Fitch shorts and a bike shirt (don’t ask me why I kept the shirt on because I couldn’t answer you). First of all, the sea salt takes the color out of them. Second of all, your shorts get tighter so you can’t get on the bike seat (unless you jump on, which hurts if you’re a guy). And lastly, your mom gets annoyed with you for nagging her for a new pair of shorts because you’re uncomfortable!
